just curious if theres any difference in transfer case integrity. i had heard on some newer chevy's the strength of the transfer case depended on whether it had the off road package or not. just wondering if dodge might of done the same or not.
I have heard that that is true on the new rams as well. That is a vey good point you brought up.

I supose in a "stock" ram it would be more of an issue. Just another reason to "go big". Clearance cures nearly everything. lol[sm=exactly.gif]

Warped rotors? Bent tow hooks? Water over rockers a promlem?

Total nonsense.
I didn't say you couldn't go through water over the rocker panel. I said use caution. And you said go slow. I think that's the same thing. I've seen 4 people hydrolock their motors at water crossing. One recently in a 3 gen ram. He was going slow and suspected water got pushed up the inside of the wheelwell lining into the intake. He had the stock airbox. It obvious by looking at the design, Chrystler didn't give as much consideration to watercrossings on the Ram as they did on my Jeep.

I have to agree with ce2flaco the only way to warp a rotor is if it's extremely hot and then it hit's the water! I don't think if your wheeling that the rotors get that hot. I know when I wheel they don't, I use the transfer case to slow the progress of my truck.

Yea - I'm sure the whopping 2 inches of additional clearance you have makes a huge difference. I do know it makes a large center of gravity change. Been there - done that years ago.

Your math is off... He is referring to clearance @ the air intake. That would be 5.5" for the susp. lift + about 1.5" for the larger tires.

Gee Don, seems like you have your panties in a knot. Ease up a bit guy. I'm not sure why your standing on my sack but you might want to jump off so i can walk. [sm=nothatway.gif]

Looks like 05HD drew a picture for you though.

As for center of gravity, if you go taller it is important to go wider, which i did.

Hey Salomon, I live in AZ and here's a picture of a "dry" wash I crossed on the way in. We didn't attempt the 5 foot high exit back across it (on that day). So much for living in a dry state.

All my pics are of AZ as well. Seems nutty that so many of them involve deep water.
