Air...Heater
Over the summer, when I turned on the air, there was a humming sound and air really wouldn't blow.
I tracked the sound and the vibration to a fan by the passenger side kick panel.
I unscrewed this fan and found a piece of ??metal?? in two pieces stuck in the fan, which was making the noise. When puzzling these pieces together, I don't have the whole piece and I am not sure what it is.
Either way, since then, my air condition, and now my heat barely travels to the driver side.
I am assuming that the piece was for a fan that sits in the upper dash on the passenger side.
Has anyone had this happen or heard of it?
Is it an easy fix?
It is 7 degrees now, which I can tolerate in the truck, but I don't think the plastic will do to well if I try to remove the dash.
Thanks,
J

There is a common problem on the '06 and other model years. If yours is like mine, the recirculation door broke and is laying up inside the dash above the blower fan. To get it fixed the "right" way is a PITA and very expensive. What I and many others did is to simply remove the blower motor (three screws) just above the passenger footwell. Reach up and remove broken recirculation door, replace motor, enjoy good airflow. The only downside is that you will always have outside fresh air as opposed to being able to select recirculated inside air. To me, it's not a problem.
