have you had any belt issues? maybe if a new belt was put on and was too tight it would cause extra stress on them..?

How many miles are on the truck? The Ram is known to go through power steering components between 90k-120k miles, and the water pump could be related to the weather. Given that your truck is an 02, it's not surprising, they're both items that tend to fail on older and high-mileage vehicles.

my water pump failed at 90xxx miles. only cost like $40-$60 for a new one. before you do anything with your power steering, get some lucas- power steering fluid fix. i have used this in a 95 nissan truck, it took the completly dead p/s pump, and brought it back to life, along with my fathers 2000 f-150.
