I used to have flowmasters, grew to hate them, they rusted out, droned, flowed like molasses in winter. Running a Cherry Bomb Extreme now and much happier. As far as your question of "are these the best sounding?" well, I can't answer that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case the ear. I think my CBE sounds better than any Flowmaster, but I like the Borla XR-1 as well.

I've got a super 40. It's not loud enough in my opinion, but it beats the stock minivan sound.

Running the Super 40 here. Save yourself a little extra money and get a muffler that isn't going to rust out. If it weren't for the fact that I almost never run the exhaust through the muffler (my cutout is almost always open) I would have changed it out by now.

Well, the new flowmasters are available in stainless steel now so the rust is no longer an issue

True, but their design is still more restrictive than other mufflers such as Magnaflow.

A maggie with the 2-3 hp difference won't be detected by your butt-dyno with these fata$$ trucks. The sound will defiantly be noticeable. It's all personal preference, I really like the sound that the flows resonates, though I'd prefer it a little louder. If your goals are horsepower, then consider going with headers, cai, re-gear, buy a tuner, smaller rims and tires, re-cam, power wire, on and on and on. Pyro's exhaust is the cherrybomb and those are some badda$$ glasspacks that will make your ears bleed. If that's your goal, definatly don't go with the flowmasters. If you just want an exhaust that sounds like a flowmaster, then get one. It all goes back to what you like on your truck. Happy huntin!
