Default New to DF. 2006 Mega Cab 2500 Concerns

I just got my truck home.It is a 2006 Mega cab 2500 in ok condition the body could use a little work. it has 172,000 kms on it now. Im just wondering if there are any issuses i should be looking at with that amount of KMS... I searched the forum and found some people having some issues with the AC on the mega cab, as well as i found the suspension really rough on the highway and read that it has something to with the vehicle not having any weight in it, so im going to try the sand bags in the back behind the wheel wells hope that works out. as far as gas milage goes i was only gettting about 12 miles to the gallon (know this by the display) sounds like the only way to get better milage is by an E-fan? Will i need to replace anything? such as belts, gaskets, ball joints? Help would be Greatly Appreciated!

i see you took my advice .
first off welcome to DF. i think i can help ya on this one since we have the same rigs except you have the 06.
first i have read and researched that the a/c problems are in the 06 mostly, my 07 will freez you out .
second your truck has plenty weight my 07 tips the scale at 8500 pounds . now im not sure about the 06 but should be the same . with them miles you probably could use a shock upgrade . possibaly you have the stock shocks that are worn out.
third i get 14 mpgs with mine . you need to do a tune up new plugs and synthetic oil in the engin and diffs. along with a good CAI or drop in filter . this will get you back to the normal 14 mpgs
and lastly the overhead is never right dont trust it it could be off by 2mpg's on a givin day.
in a nut shell with them miles you have just do a real good tune up oil and plugs and replace old worn out components like shocks and or springs and you will be good to go .

Yeah just on the way home which is about 600kms, it was a very bouncy ride, i drove my chevy down there and it was definitly not that bad, so i searched it on the forum and thats what they suggested to another guy. Firstly i figuired id need to upgrade the shocks since there is so many kms on it... The engine felt strong and the tranny was missing or anything. It was just a rough ride. Yeah i think the plugs and put fresh oil in the engine and diffs will be the next upgrade i do on her. My truck looks very similar to yours, i have a rack on it and a little body damage on it. Hopefully others can give their opionon as well.

like i said just give her a good tune up . im thinking you just bought it so it will feel a little different to you . before i bought my 2500 MC i had a 1500 . what you are feeling is a heavy truck on solid axles not like the IFS on a 1500 . the 2500 will ride ruff thats the nature of the beast . but you can tame it with good shocks.
