used truck warranties and extended warranties?
Question, is there a standard warranty for certain year trucks, or does it vary?
My 2005 Diesel I believe has a 7 year 100K mile warranty. I was looking at a used 2008 and the guy told me he thought it only had an 80K warranty.
Can anybody clear this up? Did the warranty change when they dropped the 5.9 cummins?
Also, there was mention of $1700 for some form of extended 5year/100K additional warranty -- is this worth it?

The 2005 models came with a 7 year, 70K warranty. In 2006 they went back down to 3 year 36K. But also remember the Cummins motor has a 100K warranty thru them. On the 2008 it just has the 3 year 36K. You can buy from Chrysler an extended warranty. The lifetime power train warranty is non-transferable.
I assume though its a Cummins in the 08? Which means you still got 19K left on the motor only.
I personally think the warranties dealers will try to sell is a joke. But if your stretched and know car repairs may be tough then it may be worth it. Most just have a $100 deductible.

when i got my truck i got the extended 75k warranty and i've been glad i did, but mine has a $100 deductible. i also got ding, dent, and scratch for free, it covers any scratches, dents to the truck and chips on the windows and has no deductible.
