I had a second gen with the 5.9 and now have a third gen with the Hemi. In my opinion you'd be hard pressed to feel like it's got 100 extra horses. I kind of miss the 5.9. Less plugs to change, less oil @ oil change time and super easy to work on. The hemi does get more MPGs though.

i have synthetic oil in mine now and will continue to use it, its not the much more expensive and prolongs the change interval slightly

I use synthetic oil in mine (Mobile 1) unfortunately the previous owner didn't so my front and rear oil seals weep. This will happen if your engine has done the first 50k or so on mineral then you change to synthetic. Not a problem really as it doesn't drip just stays wet. I have driven both Hemi and Magnum and although the Hemi does have more power I prefer the Magnum as the Hemi engine is more fragile and the Magnum is alot easier and cheaper to work on. Anyway a set of heads is the only thing stopping my Magnum from having the same power as the Hemi and I'll still have better longevity.

Yea the Hemi has 2 plugs per cylinder if I remember right. I also have the 5.9 in my 3rd gen. I love it but that still don't mean I wouldn't mind having the 10 or the Hemi. I have done a Homebrew CAI, Hella's, and I just got some new Cooper Discoverer's a few months back. The mod list is endless it just takes money.

Got a 5.9 here. Mods so far are just the superchips, exhaust, homemade cai, 180t-stat. I'm actually doing the plenum gasket repair and changing the timing chain and a bunch of other goodies this weekend.

I was planning the 1.7's but now due to my blown gasket and funds its been pushed back. I'm also planning headers and then a shift kit.

Anyone on here do a e-fan on a 02-03 5.9? Does the ford fan fit in ours? I know the hemi guys are using it.

I use Mobil 1 also, and to answer your question, YES YES YES the Superchips is the BEST mod to date!!! Look around you can get them used at a good price, just make sure it is unlocked. But even if you have to buy it new it will be well worth it.

I had a 360 in an old 72 Charger, and even with the extra weight the truck feels like it's faster (part of that obviously is the better gearing).
