Hey man, I went from 3.21s to 4.10s. Those 3.21s were great for mileage, but just a little sluggish on the low end.... LOL

3.21's should not even be an option.

Well he's not towing anything and I know chevy's and fords come with 3.73's, its pretty much a daily driver, doesn't race, pull, tow or go off-road.

Consider this...

All rear end ratios do is provide you best power out put and less strain on a engine and transmisson at a set RPM.

410 will improve your mileage in city driving and give you better towing, if your at 60 mph, A 410 will give you better towing and mileage than a 373 with equal towing and speed.

My 06 2500 has a 373 ltd slip, never had a issue with towing, on the highway truck gets excellant mileage numbers, but not in city driving.

IN the real world, a 373 and a 410 and a owners driving habbits are too close to call for any real advantage or disadvantage, you really have to know the best RPM to run your truck with a load on a highway

Tell him to forget the gear swap and if he needs a paper weight, a rock is cheaper than the TB spacer.

I don't see why you just get a superchip. But I'm still pissed you mpg was 4-5 more than mine with the same exact mods.

Just to add to this, my 4.56's gave me better all around mileage than my 3.92's did (both city and highway). There is a thread around here that explains things more mathmatically and in depth but with the over drive on our trucks the over all gear ratio (trans and rear gearing) is actually much less than and at a very good area with the 4.56's. I'll see if I can find the thread tomorrow and post it up

I actually planned on putting 4.56's on when I got 37's but don't want to put 37's on until I get a cummins.
