New Tires
Buddy of mine has been running them about three years now on his Z71, lot of towing, some mild off-roading, a good bit of interstate driving.
His previous tires (Maxxis Buckshot Mudders) lasted him about 26k miles and were slicks. On my last trip to Ga., he had about 40k miles on them with about half tread left. Only negative about this tire is that like most mud tires, they are a bit loud on pavement...

And the more pavement you run with them, the more they need to be rotated and driven casually.
if your a hard pavement runner....Stay away from overly aggressive ans softer treads as they will wear much faster.
My buddy runs his truck hard. Got the MTZ's and within 20kmi they were near bald and at only 12kmi, the outer tread blocks were practically gone from the corners.
His BFG AT's lasted him 40kmi on the same truck. i think the MTZ's are very soft compound as i could sink half my fingernail in the tread.
Hammer, your old. So your buddy must be too...lol he prob drives like Miss daisey...lmao

Although I have heard you can chew the side biter blocks up pretty fast on pavement if you run 'em underinflated and corner hard. Heard the same about my FCIIs as well, but 27,000 miles into them and they have 90% + tread left and the side biters are still almost like new...
It's all about how you drive and treat your tires. They need more matenience than you would think. My last set of tires, the damn shop put 2 tires up to 75 PSI, and they would have started to bald very fast if I didn't check it after my truck was pulling to the left. As for the MTZ's as a mud tire from what I'm getting, Hammer is right, probably the only downfall is noise on the highway, but they could probably last quite a while if treated right, look into the Nitto Mudd Grapplers if you want a mean lookin tire that preforms great.
