Wow thanks alot. I think you persuaded me to save a little more and get the bags. Does the hose connect to both bags or is is two separate hoses?

 

There is a hose run off of each bag individually and right behind the hitch I have the T-fitting where they join, so one fill valve fills both bags evenly.

 

Did you have to make any changes to the leaf springs?

 

You do not touch the leafs with this kit. Other kits mount ON the leafs but you need to drill or weld to the frame and they only have a 2,000lb rating which to me means thinner bags.
The nice thing about the leaf mounted bags is that you can install a lift without touching the bags again. With the Arnott's over the axle, you need to buy spacers to match your spacers that go under your leaf springs for a lift kit. they only run like $30. I would still rather have the axle mounted as i currently have over the spring mounted where all the pressure is on one area of the springs.

 

I was in advance auto today and they had 2" lift blocks and U-Bolts in a kit for only $30 so I was thinking that that would be the best and cheapest way to lift the rear. Do I need longer shocks in the rear if I get this 2" kit? And what kind of shock extender should I get for the front for the 2" coil spring spacer? Will this work Shock Extenders?

 

Dog, I like that setup. I do a lot of towing with a heavy boat and think I might go with the bags. Since you have the bags tied into one fitting to fill up with air, how do you know both fill up with the same amount of air? I read the post about the fitting but just not sure.

 

Physics takes care of making sure both bags have the same amount of air. I have the 2000# set that Dog was talking about, had to go this way due to my lift. But to be honest, other than a bellows in the bags on the 5000# kits, I can find no difference.
I got a buddy with an 03 4.7 RCSB 4x4 1500 who has the Firestone 5000# kit and we have both towed the 7700# Kubota on a 21 foot dual axle trailer and they BOTH take the same 40# of air to level it.
I do not tow enough to justify an onboard fill kit, but my buddy I was alluding to has one which is top of the line, full auto level, never even have to touch a button to fill them or ever release air. His also automatically fills a tank he has up front for his air horns. I gotta admit it is a nice setup, but mine was under $200.

Id go with the 5000# kit if you never plan on a lift, not that I think you could ever need more than 2000# of leveling capacity, but they are not much more $ and I always believe in overkill if the cost is close.

Ive done add-a-leafs and entire aftermarket leafs on trucks previously. I will NEVER again own a truck without installing a set of air bags. They are that good...

Just in case you want a link to add a leafs that fit the 02's, I have an 02 with the 5.9 and all of those add a leafs on that page fit the 02 5.9. I got the ones that are $100, the ones that arent fabtech, and they are great. fit perfect and lifted my truck the full 2 inches, actually 2 and an 1/8 inches.

Just in case you still want to go with add-a-leafs.

 

I take what I said back about which ones I bought, I bought the superlift springs on page 2. they are $80 and they are great lol.

 

I need to get off my butt and buy/install some airbags.
