I looked into it, not for the lights on top pointing to the front of the truck but for the function of the lights going out the back. I do a lot of boat towing and am always putting in, pulling out in the dark and figured it would help, and that I could just tap into the wiring already in there that you can turn on from the cab. I used to have the lights that just hooked onto the hitch that there 55watt that would go on when you put in in reverse or if your flipped the switch on the lights at the hitch but they blew. I wouldn't put the lights on top facing forward if I happened to get the 3rd brake light mount but will most likely just end up putting lights under the rear bumper. Yeah yeah, I know it looks like m. mouse or gay but for hooking up and putting in, I think it would help if that it what you are using it for.

who cares if it works for what you need it to do. we run a single spot light on our tow trucks here at work mounted on the roll bar/custom beds. along with two brake/turn/parking lamps mounted up there. they don't look too bad and they function for what we need them for which is hookin up to our 10k trailers at night.

That style roll bar won't work with the tonneau cover that I have (all over the rail). That is why I considered that 3rd brake light bar option.
