I suspect they won't "give" you one. Best you'll probably get is a decent price (~$130) on one. Make sure both the keys you have DON'T match that missing key. Theoretically someone with that key could swipe your ride.

on my 05 ram i just went to walmart and had a key made for $1.99 and it works perfect.i dont have an alarm system but i do have keyless entry and it didnt matter.i didnt have to program anything.some rams have a black key and some have a grey top key-the black ones have no chip in it and the grey ones do or at least thats what ive been told.if u have to go to a dealer to get one and have it programmed, they are gonna rape u and yes it will hurt and yes u will cry.goodluck

On my '07 (with the chip in the key), it cost $295 quoted at the dealer. It was under warranty, so I didn't care.

The chip in one of my keys died, so I had to have them program it. I really need to purchase a spare for my truck and for our T&C minivan so I can program it with our 2 working remotes.

HERE is a cheap key that I purchased for my regular key as I didn't like the huge bulky key with my aftermarket alarm fob that i have. Good for a spare for most. Hardware store cut the key for $1.07 but they won't guarantee the cut as it's not their key. Same as with anyone.
Here's a fob for $88.

better off getting one now before you have to pay the dealer top dollar.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but how do you know if you have an OEM security system or not? As I need to get a new key but am unsure if I need to have it programmed by the dealer or if I can do it myself.

Just to add on to this since i lost my second key. I wouldn't mind just getting a second key cut and using it to open the doors manually and start the truck but my one factory key I have left won't open my truck manually. It turns in the keyhole but it doesn't unlock the door. I dont mind it now but if the remote lock/unlock dies on me I'll be stuck outside my truck. Any thoughts?

I know on mine it has the security system. So even if I take my key that doesn't have a chip; it will unlock the doors and even start the truck but then the security system shuts the truck down.

I only have 1 damn key with a chip and 2 spare cheapies. I keep on on my key ring, and the other in the magnet box up under the truck. That way if I do lock my keys in the truck I can just get that key out and unlock the doors manually. Plus I dont have to worry about anyone else because even if someone got lucky enough to find the key and attempted to steal the truck, it wouldn't go anywhere. Granted they could still get in my truck and steal stuff from inside but I dont keep anything in there anyways.

I guess im just going to have to pony up for a nice 2nd one from the factory and then just reprogram a 3rd one myself.

Yea same here I suppose. I really don't want to spend the money but I guess it's better than losing my one and only and regretting I didn't get it later on
