Default Behind the grill Lights?

Well I bought some 100 w lights for behind the grill and all went well mounting and also installing a 30 amp relay inline. Problem was I didn't want a switch so I used the Hi beam turn signal arm install.(so the lights only iluminate with high beams) Only thing in Canada we have daytime running lights and I have found the wire I spliced in is the high beam and daytime running lights. At the install I was done the lights and flicked the high beams and all was bright. The next day I start the truck and put it in drive and the daytime lights go on with the behind grill lights. So I have unplugged the relay for now until I find a good spot for a toggle switch. Isn't it stupid these trucks are huge inside and I don't want to clutter the dash anyplace with a switch. Where has anyone else installed switches?

If it were mine, I'd install the switch probably through the trim panel that sticks down towards the floor on one side of the wheel or the other but not somewhere that one of your legs might hit it getting in or out of the truck. That way you don't have to cut a hole in something that shows, unless it's a really nice looking switch that goes well with the interior. That way if you or the next owner removes the lights and the switch, there isn't a useless switch or ugly hole left behind. That's how I mounted my trailer brake controller.

I mounted mine here:

I figure I plan on always having my lights and if/when I get rid of my truck I don't really care what the next guy thinks.

The panel I drilled into costs $8.49 at the dealer, so no big deal if I want to remove the switches later.

not really, you pull off the trim piece with the headlight switch (comes right out no screws), then you gotta take out two screws above the gauges and the plastic trim pulls out (a couple pressure clips in there too), you might need to pop of the radio bezel i cant remember. Just make sure you mark where you want the switch before you pull it apart. Easy.
