Default starter problem?

ok here we go, i just want to make sure that i'm thinking clearly here... when i start my truck in the morning it will make the sound in the video, but only the first time i start it. if i shut it off immediately after and restart it won't make the noise. it only makes the noise the first time i start in the morning and never again throughout the day. i think it's the starter going bad but i want to make sure i'm not having a brain fart.

Mine makes a similar noise on the first start of the day, but only on cold days. Anything below 28 degrees it will do it but not for the rest of the day.

yeah, sounds like the bendix isn't retracting fast enough? Which could also mean your ignition is overcranking as well.
I would say start at the battery and make sure it is feeding the starter proper power.
Cold brings out the worst in batteries. they tend to show their age. That maybe why it only happens first start. It sounds like it cranks over a bit slow as well compared to mine. Mine's quick. Much faster than what you have in the vid.
My exploder was night and day for cranking speed after my old battery wasn't holding a proper charge. i know you got an '06, but don't over look a 4yr old battery.

Thanks for the info, I'll check the battery. I didn't even think about it being the battery, way cheaper fix.
