obx header reccomendation?
Hi guys, i am having a problem with my current headers. I have the pacesetter full length headers and they are junk. Of course cheap so thats what you get, but the problem that i am having is the thermal coating came off in 2 days of running the motor and over the time, the headers keep cracking and now rusting through. I want to replace them with something a bit more quality. i know that the obx is cheap also, but stainless steel. I wanted to see if there was any positive feed back on these or reccomendations? Thanks much
Stainless is very tough, but very brittle.
The Pacesetters with Jethot coating iside and out that Moes carries is the cheapest best way to go.
I wouldn't put OBX nothing on my vehicle. Mass produced mainly for Imported vehicles. i have no idea how their quality control is, but thinner guage stainless is not strong at all compared to the same guage in mild steel.
The Pacesetter Jethot coated are the only one's coated both inside and out and would be an easy replacement for your rusty one's.
Not to mention OBX has 2.5" openings rather than 3".

and the other problm i was having was from the rear o2 sensors too hot, i installed cats and did the 2 non-fouler extensions but i extended the wires of the o2 sensor, should i have bought o2 extensions insteaded of cutting them with the supplied kit?
Bad as it pains me, I gotta agree with the filthy mutt on this one. I've had Pacesetter long tubes since early '06 with no problems at all. Hell, I even used the cheazy a$$ paper gaskets and still haven't had an issue.
As I've posted more than once, I took the advice of my friends from KRC Performance and had the shop they use put the ceramic coat on them, inside and out. A good bit thicker than even the JetHot with even greater heat dissipation.
I don't care whose headers you buy, if they are uncoated or painted black, they just are not going to last. I would imagine your cracking is due to rust or a combination of that with over-torquing.
If it were me, I would either spend top dollar on a set of Dynatechs or simply replace them with another set of Pacesetters with either the JetHot coating or have them coated at a reputable shop.
I have my stock cats still, just moved back and cut a couple pieces of wire about 18" each and just cut and spliced them in with solder and shrink wrap tubing. NEVER a CEL to date and NO non-fouler trick used...
