Difference between 1500 and 2500 frame
I know this has been asked many times but still NO real answer. I've got a 1500 and my friend has a 2500 with a Cummins. I know the suspension is different because of the weight and all, but I crawled underneath and really didn't see a difference between the 2 frames. And I can't see Dodge retooling different frames between the 2009 and older trucks. I mean the 1st and 2nd gen use the same frames just like Ford and Chebby use too. I’m pretty sure Chebby/GMC use the same frames across the board on the new trucks.
Also can anyone tell me why GM and Ford use 6-lug wheel on their 1/2 tons and Dodge and Toyota stuck with 5-lug wheels? Is it a strength thing?

yea it is kinda embaressing having big tires and wheels, pull up to a two door car and see we both have 5 lug wheels lol. Also, the dodge 1500s have the independent front suspension vs the solid axels on the heavier models.
Bringing this thread back from 3 years ago. I was also curious about this because I know that the difference in the frames is what prevents a lot of 2500 owners to get longtube headers. I was told by pacesetter that the chasis was completly differnt from the 2500. American Racing headers told me that their longtubes wont fir my 04 2500 because they have torsion keys where the 06-08 ones dont. Weather this will make a difference in them fitting I am not sure. I would like to get under a few different rams and compare the frames myself
