Half Digital Half Analog.

Numbers on one half, then when it reaches the halfway point the needles take over. That way it looks like a time machine.

I've always loved the way analog looks on anything, but i'm used to old cars. I think on a newer car def. digital especially with the blue backlight. It wouldn't match anything, but it would stand out in its own way and not be too tacky like an 8" tachometer.

Then again after taking a second glance, the analog looks a lot better than the digital. Depends what would bother you more... Taking a learning curve on reading the numbers quickly, or having that NON MATCHING digital guage GLARING at you everyday.

the analog still has a blue backlight though, so either way it wouldn't match the spedometer.

Might as well go with the one that gives you the best function being that they both wont match.

Thanks for all the input guys. You make good points on both sides of the argument. As far as functionality, both gauges are the same bc they have the same wideband module. What mmstar said about the lag is what has me leaning toward the digital. Plus, I do like the modern look.

I also vote for the digital. It gives a reading that is dead on and while you may not need to be absolutely percise with the reading, the analog still requires you to read about exactly where it is at.

But hey, good thread because Im in the market for one also.

The gauges that teach posted are just wideband gauges and only read A/F. There are other gauges out there, such as the aeroforce gauge, that can do a full system scan + a lot more that you can attach a wideband sensor to (I have one RubberFrog has one and I think thats it for them on this forum). The Interceptor gauges are a bit more expensive though since you have to buy the gauge and wideband seperately but IMO are so much more worth it in the end since you dont need to have multiple gauges cluttering up the inside of your truck.

I agree and this is one of the gauges I have been on the fence about fro some time. The gauge itself is costly and then there are all the add-ons you need or want but in the end it is cheaper that having 3-4 different gauges.

I have looked at the AI myself and it looks like a nice piece of equipment. I have a question for you truckin since you already have the AI. How many of the displays do you find yourself using regularly? I am just curious about how many of the functions are useful and how many you don't use.

Analog if it's a poser gauge.

Digital if you plan on actually being able to use the gauge for tuning.

I use the KR and AF on one screen, trans temp and coolant temp on another. The gauge will cycle through 4 screens with 2 pids per screen, but my old eyes can't keep up. I run kr/af on screens 1 &2, and trans/coolant on screens 3 & 4.

Also, the look of the gauge can be configured to match very well.

it depends. most of the time its set to a/f, kr, trans temp and coolant temp. but i also use the dtc to check codes, monitor fuel trims, do my 0-60 times and a few others. all together i probably use about 10 of the features off and on.

why do you need a wideband? is the truck turbo'ed? i thought you only needed a wideband for turbo'ed applications?? but my vote is digital
