Default Oh man...my brother is an idiot, pissed but also kinda funny.

I lent my bro my truck last night to transport his 440 engine block to the machine shop. Well the MORON didnt secure it enough and it slid back and smashed right into the tailgate. Now it is pushed outwards in the center and the spoiler is cracked. I took the spoiler off last night and there is a point in the top of the gate where it pinched upwards.
So obviously my brother is paying for a new spoiler, and going to try to fix the tailgate. It is only pushed outwards on the inside of the gate, there is nothing wrong with the outside.
So my question is if there is a way to just remove the gate and seperate the outer and inner "skins"? Or is it welded? Or is there a way to get inside and force the dent out?
I know this is a weird question, youre probly saying "Dude, just look at it and figure it out!" But, I am at work right now and I didnt see the damge until 11 last night. My bro actually woke me up to tell me. Since I start at 430am, 11 is late for me, so I was too tired to look at it then.

Anyways, any help or tips on pulling this out are appreciated.

BTW, my brother is actually a good dude. Ive destroyed plenty of his s#$t in the past. And the 440 block is okay, no cracks.

Oops....just realized I posted in the classifieds.
How do I move this to 3rd Gen Ram forum? Or can one of the Moderators do it for me? Thanks

Well as long as the 440 is ok...I pm'd a mod in case no one sees this on their own. Probably be easier to just the replace the gate.

your gate is spot welded together. Since you said it came to a point, I am guessing that is has a crease in it. The ony right way to pull it out is to use a stud gun, but then you will have to do some body work and repaint. Since it is the inside side of the tail gate you could easily get away with flat blacking it, or spray in bed liner. You could always beat the point down put a new spoiler on it and call it a truck.

At least if you replace it, it's not in a place that slightly mismatched paint would stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure what color your truck is. Some colors show this worse than others, especially if they've had time to fade in the sun over time. Red comes to mind...

Yea you can find tailgate pretty cheap around town...all these companies have that have dodge work trucks either throw a flatbed on it or take the tailgate off for a jimmy lift or goosneck rig. I'd call around, you might get lucky

You might also want to measure your bed to make sure it didn't get pulled in at the back, top, when the gate got creased. Probably didn't, but it would really suck if you got a new gate and found out about it then.

Hey Guys,
First off, let me thank the moderator for moving my thread to the right place. I was looking for a tailgate in the parts section and posted in there by mistake.
Second, thanks to everyone for their input. To be honest, Ill have my bro shop around and if he can find one for cheap, then Ill have him get it. If its kinda pricey, forget it. He already ordered a new spoiler from off Ebay. I do have a tonneau cover and a bedrug still in the box in the garage (still too cold to install, no adhesion). So it can be "hidden". But, Im one of those guys that even if no one can see it or know that its there, I do... and it will bother me. Slight case of OCD or perfectionism...whatever you want to call it.
Either way, the function of the gate is unharmed. Still closes and latches just fine. So this is not a pressing concern of mine. If I stumble across a good deal on one, Ill grab it and have my bro pay for it. If not, Ill live with it and hide it, and get a free pass to destroy something of his. LOL!!!!
BTW, if I do find one, is it pretty simple to transfer badges?
Thanks for the help guys.
