Exhaust...?
First post here, looks like a good site!!
I have a 2002 1500 with the 4.7L engine. I recently put a flowmaster 40 series 2.5" SI/SO on my truck, dumped just before the axle. Sounds awesome while idling and at lower rpm's. 2000-2500 rpms is the sweet spot, but then it just drops right off after 3000 rpms sound wise.
I'm wondering if anyone else has this exhaust and has experienced the same thing? I was thinking maybe it has something to do with back pressure..but it would just be a guess. Ideally I'd like it to be real loud past 3000 rpms, since I rarely go past that unless I'm passing someone.
Keep in mind my truck is basically stock, would something like a CAI help?
Thanks a ton for the info guys!

hahaha well im gonna get here before any of the more "experienced" posters get here and rip you for not using the search....
flowmasters suck for flowing, anyone on here will tell you that. they are built purely for sound, but their air passage is at a minimum. anyone on here will insist that you change to a different muffler: magnaflow, aero, borla etc......anything but a flowmaster really.
go to the FAQ page and there is an entire thread dedicated to this, and you can have a wonderful time exploring.

Thats a question for the higher ups lol. Flowmasters do flow like total dog crap from everyone I have heard, I'm tryin to convince my friend that. He has an 05 QCSB with the 4.7 and he wants a freakin Flowmaster super 44. I just told him to be ready for no change in performance and replacing it in a few years when it rusts out.

Yeah I made that mistake. Got my truck and rushed into putting things on it without reading up on it. fml. Planning on fixing it when I get home.
-This website isn't free and flowmaster probably pay's a nice little chunk of the bill in return for advertisement space. Doesn't make them a good brand.
