My 08 ram started at 18-19 mpg now i get right around 15. but free way I get around 20. I dropped to 12 for a while and switched my air filter to k and n which brought it right back up.

I love my K&N CAI. You can go for the chrome bling and get less gain or go for the plain black and get a bigger gain. I opted for the plain and could not be happier. I did find as I got closer to 40k miles on the filter I watched my MPG drop signifantly to I recharged the filter. I will do it again in about 10k miles.

What is the typical MPG gain with a CAI, or is there none?

I get around 12.5 on my 07 hemi and dont floor it and beat on it. I have only gotten 15 when It was all stock but only 12.5 now. When I had my old cheap autozone filter i got 9 but with a new filter i get 12.5

I've got a stock 07 1500 megacab with 315/70/70's on it and in the winter I run with a few hundred pounds of weight in the back for traction and get 11 MPG around town and in the summer get 14 around town and 18 Hwy.
