coolant leak pissin me off!
Ok, so I my 'new' truck has a coolant leak. It went from leaving a spot about the size of a half dollar over night, to within one week, now leaving a pool larger than a watermelon within a few hours. You can physically watch it drip.
I read that normally it's the thermostat gasket that leaks on the front side of the engine. Ok. Replaced the thermostat and it's gasket. Still leaking like a sieve.
My next step is to replace the water pump and it's gasket, but I don't think it's that. When you look closely at the front of the block, it's wet above the top edges of the water pump, which would indicate that it's NOT the pump. I would just replace it because it's a good insurance policy.
But is there a different place where it could be leaking from? Does the intake manifold have water passages through it? I don't think it would be coming from the head gaskets, because due to the angle of the heads, it would leak down the side, not the front. This is leaking straight down the middle over the crankshaft pulley.
I can't afford a lot of down time due to random tear down. So I have to have a pretty good idea of what / where i'm ripping into before starting.

Did you check all your hoses really well? Maybe the top hose is leaking and dripping down the front of the block.
it is strange that you would get that much leaking from the top. normally it will leak just what is in the hose and thermostat housing if it is leaking from up there. When you replaced the t-stat did you get the old gasket cleaned off real well? cause if there is any left it will cause a leak! also did you check the t-stat housing for cracks?
If it keeps pissing you off, clean your motor really well and get yourself one of these:
