Default Alternator Question

Hey guys my alternator is going out. Just bearings. I know a guy who does a lot of dodge truck parts and I'm wondering if anyone knows how far back (or forward) the alternator will fit. I have an 03 and would like a 2000 work? I'm kinda wondering between the difference between the hemi and the 360...

It's different enough. Look for a 136 or even a 160 (that's what I did) from a hemi Durango, they use the same top end setup. The 160 I found was a straight bolt in.

Just curious, is it making a whining sound? Been trying to figure out some noise on mine and when you touch the alt. while running, it's go a vibration feel to it but I can't tell if it's that or something else...

yes it will make a whining sound. mine is going out and is doing this same whining sound. although, it could be either the alternator or the idler pulley, but the dead giveaway is if the noise only happens when the weather is cold. if the noise stops when it warms up, then its ur idler pulley. if it happens all the time, its your alternator, i believe.

Pull the serpentine off the alt. and spin it, my made a nice grinding noise and didn't spin smoothly like the replacement. Replacement took away the noise mine made...

Same with me, that thing sang right along with the RPM. It was a win/win for me when I replaced it (no more noise, higher amp).
