Get yourself a big pair of channel locks. Remove the button from tow/haul button from the end first. and then grab a handful of channel locks and begin twisting. The end is splined on, and don't plan on re-using the original **** once you remove it. I did this, and can now use any universal shift **** on the end of the column lever. I relocated the tow haul button to the Cig lighter hole in the dash, and like the ay it looks. The housing for the button fits the hole perfectly, just route the wires through the side of the lighter, reconnect and you're done. I'll see if I can get pics later.

Bit of an older thread but yeah, it comes out. They make a special tool for it to get it out on one piece and not damage or ruin it. It looks like a pickle fork and basically wedges it out.
