Car alarm
Truckin, i agree with the truck being locked but the remote not showing it. Ive had that happen before. Ive only had the remote not communicate with the truck one time and at that time also my wife was with me and her one-way and it worked and when it did, then mine would work so I thought it had more to do with the brain than the remote. My range it excellent. I know for a fact i have done close to a 1/4 mi range. But when you are in buildings and such it isnt so good. Signal is good as long as you keep the battery charged. Thankfully my cell and remote all take the same charger.
And yes, pricing on those remotes are ridiculous. Coincidently, ive got the contact info (email) to a presidental rep with DEI if you want it. I had to have a remote replaced once and they didnt want to do it but he did after i threatened to tell everything on every blog, forum and social site I was on. ;-)

Mine does it at least once every 2 weeks now. Im just figuring that its because its a few years old, and if its the reciever not the remote I can believe it too cause its on my windsheild and is baking in the sun every summer. It did not o it right after I bought it but now out of the blue it just stops working and looses the signal and everytime I took it down to the place that installed it it works fine and they cant replicate the problem.
As I stated earlier the nustart is a great way to go. The brain for it is the EXACT same brain you get with the compustar. It also comes with 2 two way remotes and has a 3000ft range. Seems kinda foolish to pay a ton extra for a different name on the remote.
Yeah I'm in Kansas City and I can't find a place here that knows anything about "nustart". I toyed with the idea of trying to install one myself, but I think since I'm wanting a system that is a car alarm w/ a two-way pager and remote start... that's just too many variables for me to screw up.
I'd probably consider the Compustar more if the the cost wasn't so much higher. So now I'm trying to decide between the Viper 5901/2 or the Avital 5303. I also just put in a call to the dealer... to see what they offer and how much they want. Anyone here have any experience with that???

The install price seems high as i remember Walmart use to stock them for less than $140.
Lower if you search around further. But if they are the best at what they do in your area then maybe it is worth it.
