HID Flicker w/ relay and resister
ok i researched this and found out how to wire in the relay with the hids but with this quote from another thread:
how would i tie the resister inline with the relay to stop the lampout problem.
I keep seeing a lot of guys saying the resistor fixed both the flickering and the lamp out, and they aren't using a relay..
I have this diagram, which makes sense for the use of a Relay:
Power is drawn direcltly from battery, using the factory wiring harness to switch it on and off. This would still require a resistor I believe though to fix the lampout most likley. So.... the question is what type of relay does one need.

The OEM wiring from the trucks headlight circuit is only made to power the relays coil. The contacts to the relay you be from the batter and to the ballast. This way when the lights are turned on the truck powers the relay which in turn closes the contact and gives 12v+ to the ballast. This will have nothing to do with the Lamp Put or the normal flickering or strobing.
You will need either a 6ohm 50watt load resistor. You can find them on ebay and I have seen them at Autozone. It really depends on what HID bulbs you have but if you have HID highs and Halogens lows then you only need two. If you have HID highs and lows then you will need four.
One end of the resistor attaches to the HID low beam wire and to the common (AKA ground) and you will need to do this one both sides. So that takes 2 total. If you have HID highs also then you need 2 more and they go with one end on the HID high beam wire and the other end to the common (AKA ground). So thats 4 total. Please make sure you are using a DMM to find your wires

forgot to mention its for my sister inlaws caliber. the lights comeon the shut off then come back on i know this is the truck forum but i figured this would be the same for the car if not send me in the right direction.
