So I been wanting to buy a black locking fuel door for my ram but I don't want to spend 100 bucks on it. So instead I want to buy the chrome one for about half that price and paint it black.

What should I do to be able to paint the chrome and have it stick good? And what kind of paint and materials would I need?

so if I'm doing that I also want to paint the chrome plastic frame piece that is on the grill, i want to get ride of the chrome stuff, would I do the same as the fuel door?

is it plastic or is it real chrome on the gas door?...the grill i just sanded it 400g-600g adhesion promoter then primer then a few good coats of color(duplicolor match) make sure to not start or stop spraying on the grill make long even swipes....clear it real good the same way let sit for a few hours if not over night and remount....good luck....pretty much the same for gas door....

might have to powder coat that...may be cheap cause its small....

 

You can paint it even if it is real chrome, you just need to prep it good. Also, since you have an 07, make sure you get the right color match paint. It is not just a plain black like earlier years.
