either your gas cap is not tightend all the way or its bad; or you have a slight crack or dry-rot in a rubber hose under your truck by your driverside door that connects to your evap canistor.

Thanks for the reply jk, that hose been replaced, as have the pump and filters which are under the rear passenger driver side door.

Not changed the gas cap yet. I will order one, but I don't think thst is the issue. Also have pressure build up in the petrol tank issue as well. The gas cap can be hard to take off sometimes, as air hisses out. If gas cap was cracked then I guess pressure wouldn't be able to build up in the fuel tank!?!?

you can check this page out for codes help.

Also, use the search fucntion above and type in "p0456" and there are a couple of threads about it. Here's one that I'll quote for you that worked on this dakota,

It seemed to have been a little off kilter and by pushing it in/out several times it sort of reset itself. Two days later and the CEL hasn't come back on.

Anybody getting the small evap leak that won't go away want to give that a shot and see if you have any luck, instead of just buying a new gas cap?

Hopefully you'll find a fix! I can't believe the dealership is yankin you around like that. I guess you got some new hoses out of it.

Thanks Joe, I will take a look tomorrow.

to be fair to the dealership. I'm in the UK and we don't have many Rams, and we don't have EVAP systems on our motors over here, so think it has been guess work so far.
I found the hose cracked, and they replaced that, but that must coming up for 2 years ago now, that CEL is driving me crazy now.

Yep.....try the gas cap.
It usually is that when it's a code for a "small" evap leak.
There's usually a few on e-bay over here in the UK and they're in stock and posted from the UK.
Hope this helps?
Al.
