Default RAISE FRONT OR LOWER REAR

I have brand new 05 1500 QC 4x4 Laramie with sport package and 20"s. The truck sits with a low rake towards the front. I'd like it to be level...should I crank up the front or lower the rear. I hear raising the front will screw up the alignment? Any thoughts?

yeah you raise it then go get it aligned, dont lower a 4x4. that would be....[sm=lame.gif][sm=laughat.gif]..........[sm=joke.gif]......but really...crank the torsion bars and if thats not enough get the coil spacers from daystar.

Keep in mind...if you crank the torsion bars you will change the geometry of your front suspension. This will cause premature wear on your ball joints, tie rod ends and CV's. That's why people go with professionally designed lift/lowering kits because the good ones will keep the stock suspension geometry.
I've not had a ball joint or tie rod end go out yet but trust me when i say that loosing a CV is no fun at all and can be very expensive especially when you try to have it fixed under warranty and the dealership tells you to take a hike because you altered the truck.
It isn't all that hard to do yourself but the new CV will put a serious dent in your wallet.

My two cents, for what it's worth.

Um 4x4, No Coil Springs on these. Only leveling kit is from Truxx, it's a set of keys that reindex the torsion bars so that you don't have to crank them but still gain 2.5 inches of lift up front. Doesn't change factory ride but will change the suspension geometry. Still WELL within acceptable limits though, and it should be noted for the record that ANY lift will change the suspension geometry to some degree, even the full on differential dropping kits like Rough Country will change the suspension geometry, if they didn't you wouldn't gain any actual ground clearence because to keep everything the same the front crossmember would have to be at the exact same level and that would defeat the purpose of the lift. The only clearence you would gain then would be from the tires and most kits like to add a little of their own to the equation.

When a kit includes longer/redesigned steering knuckles the ball joints and tie rod ends will keep their same angle. When the torsion bars are cranked up it shifts the lower A-arms down and puts both of those joints at a seriously increased angle. Both the upper and lower a arms on my truck are nearly horizontal because of the taller knuckles and the bracketry on the front crossmember.
I will admit that i have yet to see a kit for third gens that fixes the CV angle. But if your not running serious trails it shouldn't make much of a difference.
