Sad day today... :(
I bought my wife a Mini Cooper (used). A few months afterwards the PS pump goes out. I think, "no problem, Ill just go pick one up and replace it".
HA! Nope. No one in town has one. Its not even a damn belt driven pump. It is an electric DC pump. Wanna guess the cost?
200? no
300? no
400? no
That pump is 500 buck and has to be special ordered. But wait it gets better. It doesnt take regular PS fluid. It takes some fluid called Pentosin CHF 11S.
Cost? $30 a quart.
So yeah, you had better watch out for parts costs and hope you can do the repairs yourself.
On a side note, I know you hate leaving your truck man but at least you know what you have to do.

what will you do when you have to haul a load? or a trailer? or drive in snow! cost of gas is worth it for a dodge ram. ive been suffering the gas prices my whole life, but love them still and wont give em up even if it's $30 a gal. :-)
Ill be ready after all my training.
I didnt use the truck as a truck. I had it toward the end of high school too now. about 1 year. but I dont tow anything or carry anything in the back of it.
Ok, I just read all three pages. Yes, VW's are expensive when they break down, however I have had more problems with my Dodge Ram then with my VW. They're very quircky cars. You'll love the 2.0T...its a great motor.
Also, I'm happy for you that your joining the Air Force. I'm in and have been for over 10 years. I work in the communications area as a lineman...aka Cable Dawg. SF is tough and you will deploy a lot, but deployments build character for younger guys like yourself. The tech training will be difficult, but nothing that you cant handle. As another poster said...watch out for the mamacitas. They will get you!! Have fun, enjoy the AF like I have and enjoy that 2.0T rocket!

haha nothing will beat my truck in looks. I will miss my truck so much. But instead of driving through people I can speed past them. I will defiantly buy another ram in the future.

well...... i bet you wont find a car as cool as your truck though!!! lol that's my last argument.
