Anyone with a scan tool or DRB-III in/near WV?
We are trying to find out what the PCM of the 03 1500 build is thinking and doing/not doing. We have it close to right (we think) due to the tach reading correctly when it decides to come on. Other times it sits dead and the truck does not charge or show oil pressure. Will pay for your time, let me know if you can be a help! Thanks Chris
Here is the thread of the build, in case you are wondering what you are getting into.

Tach....working, then not would be primarily caused by your crank sensor. Since you were getting a signal and you had to modify the sensor, I would look into that.
Alt... I remember on both my vehicles when I did remote start, I had to t-tap all of the ignition wires together to provide the alternaotr with the ability to charge when the remote starter is activated with no key in the ignition. I know u have somewhat of a diff problem, but I would look into that and maybe probe a wire or two and see if they are getting juice right at the steering column with a key in the start position. I think there are 3ign wires that should all have power coming from them when the vehicle is in the start position. Again, for remote starters, you just connect all of them together. The key should tie the together, but maybe you touched something you didn't realize? But it's the ignition wire that allows the alt to provide chagre to the battery.
oil pressure....I believe that goes directly through the pcm and goes based on a resistors signal. Using the 360 sensor is key, and maybe you just have a bad sensor? Have you tried replacing it with a new one?

Our problem is when the problem (whatever it may be) decides to send a signal, everything works perfect. UNTIL we turn the key off or stall the engine. There is a remote start on the truck, and the way we have the engine wired, it will work. Tried it out of curiosity and it decided to start. BUT the above stated gauges did not begin to work. This is why I would like to see inside the PCM to see what it is thinking. I believe a DRB-III would tell us this, correct?
Thanks, if you look into the thread you will see our advances in what we have done. The I/C went in this weekend, and trans cooler mounted. Now to plumb the I/C and figure out wiring. The wiring is the huge part. Wish I knew a way to ask more broadly to get more response. This is getting exposure, maybe I am impatient. Hope to find someone that knows or willing to help.
