OK I know there are alot of posts about this but none seem to be the same, or at least I haven't found one. The truck is an 02 5.9 L gas with 107,xxx. Lately when the truck is cold it will sputter and have no power for a short distance say 1/4 mile, and if it is babied it will come out of it and work normal. Sometimes even during a warmup it will idle low and missfire. Once the truck is warmed up it doesn't seem to happen. Any thoughts?
no codes huh?
How bout the plug wires? Moisture could be an issue if they are cracked and would cause the hesitation problem. You can measure the resistance of them to see if they are good or not, but if they are original its time for new one's anyways.
If I shut it off during the sputter and start right away again the problem is gone! Not sure what to check. Moisture in the cap would not go away with restarting, so must be sensor or something...anyone have any further thoughts. No codes so not sure where to start.
Took off the air intake tube and started the truck. Started fine, sucked air pretty hard with the butterflies closed. Built up some vacuum and idled for about a minute. Then it started sucking sputtering and sucking air really bad, kinda like it couldn't breath, butterflies still closed. Shut off and restarted and idled fine. No problem the rest of the day. WTH
