He doesnt have MDS. You could dynamat the entire truck. It'd be cheaper to just put a muffler on. X pipe it to a couple dual axlebacks. Won't hear a peep

If you hear a drone with straight pipes I don't think there is a muffler made that will make you happy. Although there was some talk about the muffler location reducing drone. My FM 50 deries is mounted pretty far forward under the cab and I have always had some drone. Not bad but still some drone.

I had a Gibson Side Swept cat back on my 6.0 Silverado. Stock cats too and it droned at 1500rpm. 2000rpm and it was fine. For certain driving situations, I could not avoid 1500 rpm aside from a down shift.

GM's were the quiet trucks according to the Gibson website. Dodge was the louder of them. Considering the Hemi sounds I've heard and the Resonators and Mufflers that come stock....it's no wonder you've got a drone.

Try a Resonator install first. It should not limit flow, at least too much.

Lets be real about it, The resonator and mufflers are in place and designed to reduce the noise. You can not get rid of them AND keep it quiet

Resonator: A chambered device used in an automotive exhaust system to reduce noise and drone by reflective cancellation of certain sound frequencies to which it is specifically tuned for.

Muffler: A device used to abate unwanted noise in an exhaust system utilizing either absorption, restriction or reflection or a combination of the three.

Your question makes about as much sense as asking "why does my truck not ride smooth when I remove the shock absorbers"...

Ha ha. That made me think of when my buddys sister bought her brand new Altima. At the time we were planing a trip to Hawaii she walks in and says "oh that sounds great, we can save money and I'll drive the new car there."

Can deal with the drone have for 10 yrs. the dynamat idea was the only good idea so far. Sorry to get u guys all riled up, was just kicking the idea around.
