Nope you cant just unplug it but theres a way to turn it off in your owners manual, I turned mine off the day I bought the truck, I think you turn your ignition on, plug and unplug the seatbelt 5 times within 10 seconds then turn the ign off and that sound turn the sound off.. Not 100% positive thats the exact sequence though..

And theres so many wires in that harness under the seat because they just wire every truck for all the options, some of those wires are for power/heated seats but you dont have them so there is nothing on the other side of the plug goings to your seat..

I thought this might be some real fun questions like, the first one is a used condom and the second is an unopen can of Bud. But, NO you wanted technical answers....

I think its for heat to the back seat like oefootball said. Turn on the heat and see if hot air blows out. Just a thought

The guy who said that it is a control module is right, if you pick it up and shake it your seatbelts will trigger, I actually had problems with my seatbelts locking up in my old truck with my stereo because my subwoofer pounded right down into it... Make sure to leave it alone otherwise your seatbelts will become all sensitive and annoying, I tried remounting mine and ever since it just caused trouble for me in my old truck.
