2002 RAM 1500 P0720 Code

I don't have 2nd or overdrive and I get a Code P0720 Output Speed Sensor. I have replaced both sensors on the transmission and still have the problem. A mechanic tells me I need to rebuild the transmission. I'm a novice at transmission trouble. Is this legit?

I am going to move ya to the 3rd gen ram section, they might be able to help ya a little better than us dak boys.
