Default Looking for Headers

Does anyone know of anyone ever putting long tube headers on a 2500? I would like to do this and can't find anything on them, don't see why they have them for a 1500 and not a 2500 there's a ton of room for them. If you can help please do.

Thanks!

I dont think there are any LT's for the 2500. I know gibson makes shorty headers for the 2500 though. Maybe John will chime in here and confirm or deny this since he has a 2500.

I just did some googling and JBA makes shorty headers for 2500 that claim to give the hemi 15 hp and 24 lb-ft down low. Downside is there over a $1000 bucks. thats just ridiculous. sorry bud

gibson makes a log style header for them. basically a weird shorty. and i havent seen any reviews. and jba makes a set of shorties. they are suppossed to fit, but all the reviews ive read said modifications needed to be made to keep them from hitting the frame, the holes needed to be drilled out, and they wont stop leaking.

i recently read a few posts over on DT about 6.1 manifolds possibly fitting. im waiting to see where that one goes. those can be had on ebay for around $200.

So thats a no go on the 6.1 manifolds fitting on the 5.7? Was always wondering too does anyone ever try to put a different intake on our 5.7 like off the Chargers? Does anything from the 6.1 fit on our 5.7?

yeah, some stuff from the 6.1 will fit, but you will have to modify a lot of other things to make it fit

I have JBA shorties. they fit nicely and haven't had any issue's with them. I did find through my extensive research before I purchased them of a guy who had his truck dynoed before and after with JBA's and a catback. Gains were much more than I though. i would stand behind those numbers that JBA publishes. Yes they do create a little less power under 2500rpms, but from that point on it's all gain.

Shorties aren't a waste of time or $$$$. They are very easy to install IMO and for guys that get nailed with inspections(Cali) can't have anything but shorties or midlength. Anyways, the gains from a LT headers will be more beneficial BUT will cost you more if comparing apples to apples(meaning stainless-stainless and coated to coated, not mild steel painted LT's and stainless JBA's..etc) AND installation is much more rigorous for LT's.
On the dyno for a stock Hemi, I would guess that the LT's will provide MAYBE 10rwhp over the shorties. it's not until you get into more mods that the LT's will just surpass the possible gains of the shorties.
Short of the long, shorty headers are good for stock vehicles for easy install, descent gains and overall cost effectiveness.
LT's for heavily moded guys hands down.

Saying shorty headers are a waste of money and are useless....well i could compare that to saying that a cold air intake is absolutely useless and a waste of money. if i could think of the worst money spent on any car out there..it would be $300 for a cold air intake. they generally increade hp by Maybe 5hp, for what, $300????
Shorty headers will give you atleast double that if not more.
i understand CAI goes hand in hand with other things, but it's as simple as CAI do not provide a substancial hp increase on a mostly stock vehicle.(with exceptions of a few performance based engines like the SRT-10...cobra...etc where the CAI gains are incredible)

as far as the 6.1L headers. they won't fit without modification to them. PIA and unless your handy with a mig, forget about them.
