Control Arms Brushings
I have a 02 ram 1500, today i was told in the dealership that the front lower control arms brushings were broken. They wanted to charge me $1260 to replace them. Are they crazy or am i stupid? I looked online and the brushings are about $40 a pair. Can i just change the brushings or do i have to change the whole arm? How bad are they to change?I am safe to drive? Thanks.

thats what i thought. For what i know if the bushings in the control arm are bad i should hear a clicking sound when turning towards that side right? but i dont hear anything. Can i just replace the bushings?

Their probably not "broken", just worn out.
Yes, you should be fine driving.
It's not so much that the parts are expensive, it's that there is a lot of other work to be done to get to the bushings. (Such as, separating steering knuckle, removing CV joint; depending on access, you might have to remove the suspension arm from the torsion bar and stabilizer bar; etc)
