Default stumped with the dads truck

its a ford, but i knew if i wrote that in the title you guys wouldnt have looked. lol heres the deal, hes got a vibration/thumping/clicking coming from the front, only comes on for a little.. well ive narrowed it down to the a/c compressor i belive.. how do u tell when these are gone? and is there anyway to bypass that and like turn it off? maybe just get a smaller serpentine belt and skip it? thanks guys

Narrow it down by turning on and off the the AC. When the AC isn't on the clutch isn't ingaged and the pully is just freewheeling might as well be a idler pully. You may be able to get a smaller belt, It depends on the configuration of the engine.

The clicking that goes away after the engine is warm is an exhaust leak. You could also take the belt off and spin the ac with a drill(rig it up) to see if that is what is ticking.
