Default Rear Lights

Hi guys,

I'm new I have a 2004 2500 SLT It's been a fantastic truck and the only problem I have had with it is the rear tail lights. Indicators, break and reverse lights work, just the driving lights don't come on on both sides when the lights are turned on. I've replaced the switch in the console but it hasn't fixed it. Does anyone know whats up or had this problem before?

Thanks!

Do a search on the PDC ....the Power Distribution Center problems. Fuse box to you and I lol.
You can do a quick test by jumpering the Park Lamp relay, which will tell you if you have an earth return problem deep within the PDC/fuse box.
If you jumper the relay between pin 30 to pin 87 on the park lamp relay (if memory serves me right) with the relay still plugged in and the rear park lights come on, your PDC is stuffed and you need a new one.
They work out around the $280 mark from the dealership.
It's a known problem with this unit.
Either that, or leave the jumper in everytime you want rear lights.
Just remember to remove it when you leave your truck. Otherwise the lights will keep on until the battery drains.
Hope this helps?
Al.

It does make me weep when I fill up with petrol. But the LPG is fine.....but I've noticed of late that the price of that is creeping up.
Bloody environmentalists and the "global warming" and the government taxes to wrongly support it.

As Al said the PDC is known to have a corrosion problem and I have read the replacements have a cover on the bottom to help keep out water. I am wondering if anyone has tried to clean up one with a problem and repair it. Seems likely to me. I have had mine unbolt to tap into it's wiring.

I would think a repair solution would be possible RedTruck-VA.
Just need to run a soldered jumper to make good the earth return to the FCM, front control module.

I agree and this would be what I would first try to do.
