Question hope this is in the right place

I got a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7L.I pretty much baby this truck, I lived only 2 mile from work and it has only 43,300 mile on it.I change my oil with the Vavoline Durablend faithfully.Do you think it would make big difference if I switched to a different brand like Castrol syntec blend? Its a bit cheaper.Or should i just stick with the same more expensive stuff.

Nope won't make a difference. Personally I use Mobile 1 synth, However, Known many people who have used cheapest dino they could but just changed oil faithfully every 3m/3K. there trucks running great still 150K+,200K+, etc... Either way, I would mess with the blended stuff, Id Either go dino or synth completely. Blended is a marketing gimmick.

Only reason I use the expensive stuff is, I get a significant discount and sometimes I get wrapped up in something and don't always change exactly at 3m/3k even get up to 4k and I like to think it's still protected, Not really sure, just like to think. infact I actually use Dino oil on my other car.

well owners manual says to use the blended stuff...Thanks for the reply I wouldn't really think it make a difference from one brand to another, long as i use the correct weight as always.

Thats interesting, I don't remeber seeing anything about that in my owners manual (2005). I know the dealership's around here use Dino oil unless otherwise specified.
