I don't think it's gonna effect your engine in any way. MY '04 calls for 5w-30 and there is NO difference between the '04 & '05s short of a little PCM fine tuning.

HOWEVER, I know for a fact if an MDS Hemi owner has an engine failure and any other weight than 5w-20 is found in there, the warranty work is denied! I have been told first hand by a Chrysler service manager that bulletins were sent out about it. MDS tolerances are that tight.

I do not know if they would be sticklers like that in a non-MDS engine, but if you have warranty, I'd get it in writing from the dealer that it's ok before I used a different viscosity oil...

 

Thanks for the points guys. Usually I do my own oil but I thought I'd treat myself this time around from getting on the ground and getting oil all over my fingers. I'm just a little more adgitated that they took it upon themselves to assume I'd want a different weight oil than what my cap says; if they didn't have the right weight I wouldn't of have them do it. I noticed at drive-thrus that the truck ticks a lot louder than its usual annoying tick. Should I bother having them put the 0w-20 in or am I better off with the 5w-30?

 

just have them give you your money back, Then go to autozone buy the mobil1 5w-20 and change your oil yourself.
