+1 on the diesel, thats the direction im going next truck. and gas prices always fluctuate. diesel seems to stay the same regardless of whats going on.

I dunno I would really only go with a V8 diesel if you like a truck to have some good get up and move around town. Drove a new 6.7 cummins (no miles on it) and wow did it feel like a dog just so damn slow. The new D max truck I drove also with no miles was better by a lot but still seemed choked up ( low miles tight motor still). After driving the ram I hoped back into our ford (6.0 powered F350) and yeah much faster. It does have a chip but I was running it at the 60hp setting so not huge gains. Not to mention the V8 diesels sound cooler with exhausts on them. Piped cummins = tractor sound to me.

maybe it was the tight motor or 8.7 but all the stock ford vs. diesel races ive seen between friends and other places 9 times out of 10 dodge is on top. but for that matter even my friends 6.7 dually with 8 inch lift and 37's when alls he had an edge would get to 100 in no time and was dam quick. and as far as sound in my opinion no diesel sounds smoother or louder then a straight six but everyones entitled to there opinion

yeah good point but we can all agree that cummins is the tow king with all that torque off idle you really do not need to rev it like the V8's.

Guess I need to do some test driving. I was looking around at used but they were all work trucks so the were pretty banged up. I do like how the price for diesel stays the same and a tank of diesel last longer than a tank of regular. Parts and maintnace may cost more but it would be worth it in the long run.

5.9 or 6.7 u can't go wrong with either. the 5.9 is proven and the 6.7 is still proving its self. the only real problem with the 6.7 is the essision crap. i u dont drive it like u stole it it will soot up and go into limp mode. But they make the delete kits that eliminate that stuff and they will run great.

diesel w/o a doubt is a great way to go... However if your into modified trucks.. it's far more expensive in the long run...
