Default Engine shutting off

Good morning! I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Slt 4x4 86K miles. Drove home from work late last night and my engine shutoff twice while driving. (fortunately within a mile of my house). It starts back up again with no problems. MIL lights have been on for 3 days. Got the codes this morning.

P0404-EGR POSITION SENSOR PERFORMANCE
P0406-EGR POSITION SENSOR HIGH

I erased the codes, drove to the gas station filled up. As soon as I turned the key the MIL went back on with the P0404 code. I've driven about 20 miles this morning and hasn't shutoff. But I do notice that the voltage guage needle starts to go down and the blower power has slight fluctuation. Kind of like it wants to shutoff. Anyone here have this problem before and any hints appreciated. I drive 100 miles a day to and from work.

replace your EGR valve, common wear item, is a DIY in the FAQ section. Also would be a great time to clean your throttle body, also a DIY in the FAQ section...

Hmmm? I'm getting zero results for both on the FAQ search.

EGR DIY
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...egr-valve.html

TB cleaning is pretty straightforward, but heres the DIY anyways
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...y-hemivec.html

Im not sure if you have the 5.7 or the 4.7, but the TB cleaning is pretty similar for both. The 4.7 has 3 bolts instead of 4, and you have to take the throttle linkage off, unlike the Hemi. Hope this helps some, good luck!

I changed the EGR valve. I was lucky, Autozone had one left in stock, 49 bucks duralast. Came with the gaskets. I drove another 20 miles with no MIL light coming on or incidents. I think/hope this is the fix. I was gonna start cleaning the TB but was it started hailing on me. LOL! thanks for the help guys!
