all right that explains that; on another thread it was posed that the parking brake was drum. which was why this thread was brought on, thanks all...

The parking brake on a disc brake setup usually is a drum brake. Just that the drum is actually the inside of the rotor.

yea. Dodge went ahead of the game with brakes when they decided to throw stock 20s on there i think

Its funny because you can get the 3/4 tons with drum brakes, I know because my moms 3/4 ton has drum brakes. 04 3/4 ton heavy duty.

They are arguably better than rotors when it comes too carrying and stopping a loaded truck. Real drum brakes that is.

I know that, but the factory drum brakes are not, and they heat up way to fast.

A real good drum brake is the kind of drum brake you find on a semi truck, I have seen a semi truck with 2 tankers on the back with the brakes locked up on the back tanker drag the back through a whole entire truck lot and not once did those brakes give in, the tires didnt even turn a little.

Yea and drum brakes arnt too great with sand and mud. Just think of how many older atvs actually have working brakes
