Default HELP... Convert from 3rd Gen to 4th Gen RAM?

I am looking into converting my 2002 dodge ram to a 2006-08 front end.

It looks as if the hoods are the same from the 02 to 08, but the front fenders, headlight and hood grille would need to change.

Has anyone done this and does anyone know what is needed for this conversion or if there is any welding or adjusting needed for the conversion?

Thanks

Welcome to DF.

There are a few guys that have done this but it takes a bit of work. Most guys like the older headlights so they stick with the 02-05 look, but nevertheless it can be done.
FYI...02-08 are all 3rd Gen Rams. 4th Gen begins in '09.

You will need everything as stated plus I believe the front bumper as well. Pretty sure everything is a direct bolt on fit with no welding going on, but if there is anything needed, it wouldn't be much.
When replacing your front fenders, the paint isn't going to match, so it's likely that the painter will have to blend the color into the doors and possibly the hood so they match well?? Mostly depends on the color, but most colors have many variations and that can cause noticeable paint discoloration from one panel to the next. i'm sure if your gonna go through with this, your not gonna half *** it at the end.
Maybe try a search and see what you can come up with. There have been a few threads regarding all of what is needed and that may better help you especially if there are pics posted. Many guys talk about doing this, but few go through with it as they find elswhere to spend their money. it's real easy to do..haha

We're working on doing this to my friends 05 diesel right now.
We have fenders, lights, light wiring (just in case), bumper and bumper cap, grille, and we got him a new hood.
The body shop said it should be a direct replacement bolt on deal so here's hoping.

He's waiting on paint quotes but we'll do a diy when we do it all if anyones interested/it hasn't been already been written

Default Do you know if you do need to replace the hood?

Great sounds like an easy swap. I have to paint the car anyways so I was thinking might as well swap the front end.

Do you know if you have to pick up the new hood? Or can you still use the 02 hood?

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it.

You can keep the hood

You need from 06-08
-Headlights (I think you have to adjust the wires as well)
-Fenders
-Grill Shell
-Bumper
