today when i was driving my truck i noticed the temperature starting to rise i punched it and the temp fell back to normal then when i would stop at a red light it would stay normal until i started to go then it would start to heat up then it would drop back down to normal if anyone knows what this may be please let me know

put a 180 t stat in it

 

Yeah you being in florida could get away with a 180. But you are right this is most likely a bad t stat I had to change mine a year ago it was busted and it would do the same thing that yours is doing.

 

they are cheap anyway just upgrade to a 180 from jet

 

hes got a stock truck hell be running rich with a 180
