Well I used 2 different cooking thermometers to check the temp of the water. It was right about 200 degrees when they opened. Now as far as installing them into to truck.

I wold describe the process of it being installed as the longer side of the t-stat goes into the engine assembly or another way to say it -the spring side of the t-stat goes into the engine assembly.

Am I correct???

Thanks for the help

Well I am glad you did measure the temp of the water. Most guys wouldnt. As for which way the stat goes in?? I cant remember honestly. But its the only thing I can think of.

Yes spring side toward the engine flatter part out. Or as you said the longer side toward the engine. Did you do a key cycle and check to see if any codes were coming up? turn key on (not start), key off, key on, key off, key on leave on at the third time and look at your odom and if there is a code it will display where the milage is if not there will be 4 dashes and then it says done. I think I asked before but cant remeber.

Default Hey

Well the other day I went to the dealership to get another t-stat and said what the heck just buy another and see how it goes. I haven't had time yet to put it in since I'm out of town. I'll give it a shot this Monday. It idled perfectly while going there.

Funny thing is that the check engine light came on. it threw a tone of codes and I haven't been able to find them yet online. I'm thinking or maybe just hoping they are light bulb codes since I change the front to projectors and then all of the back to new LED's. Some of the codes are
21 75, 23 75, 21 73, 23 73, 21 71, 23 71, 21 69, 23 69, 21 67, 23 67, ... there are a few more.. Do you or anyone else know what they are?

Also for my truck to pull the codes I had to hold the odometer reset pin in and then turn the truck key to the on position without starting it.

Those codes cannot be decoded. You can either take it to the dealer and let them decode them or go to an auto parts store and let them connect a OBDII scanner to the truck and pull the OBD codes which we can help with

Well it ran cool with the thermostat out and I'm thinking that is why it threw those codes I hope. I never got the computer scanned. I disconnected the battery and installed another thermostat at that I purchased from the deal and guess what the lower radiator hose get hot now. So I'm thinking that the other t-stats where bad or not working right. I've driven it about 100 miles now and it still doesn't idle smooth. It did stall on me the other day when I pulled it out of the garage real quick. It wasn't warmed up so I'm thinking/hoping it's the EGR valve. I called the dealer for a price and asked him was there a recall or anything with this part. Guess what he tells me

This part has been redesigned 9 different times and they do sell alot them. I'm hoping that this will cure my problem.

Dealer price $99 and Auto Z is 49. not sure which one to get. I'm leaning towards the dealer

Default Hey

Well I've driven the truck now about 100 miles since the new EGR valve and let me say it idles just right and not one stall. WOW. It wasn't a racing idle before at a stop light but just something that would shake a little I would never see the RPM go up or down but you could just tell it didn't idle right. Now it's just right. Smooth and the exhaust sounds good also while in park. Before you could hear a little pop in the exhaust (not be confused as a band-lol)

So it had to be the EGR valve that the have redesigned 9 different times per the dealer-parts dept. I'll have to post some picks of the projector headlights I put on the truck. They are pretty nice but wish they where a little brighter.

Well my truck wouldn't shift hard, cruise control issues and idle problems. If I was to guess there is some kink of sensor(s) out. Disconnect the negative terminal on battery for about 10 minutes to reset the computer. But prior to that while the truck is off hold down the trip reset button in the instrument cluster and then turn the key to the on while still holding the button. You will see the gauges move around and then when they are done in about 10 seconds you might see some codes pop up where the mileage is posted. hit the trip button again to see if there are any other codes. It will tab through some of the codes.

See if that helps you...
