Default What years are compatible?

This question is in reference to the one I posted earlier about available engines. Does anyone know what years are compatible with my 02’ 3.7? I found an 05’ Liberty with a low mileage engine, but even if I get the computer too, I still don’t know that it will work with my automatic transmission. Sorry to be such a pain.

I'm pretty sure the liberty uses the same auto tranny as the 3.7 ram.

Do you know if I'd need the 05's computer? And if so, would I need the harness too, or would it be plug and play?

I'd assume you'd be ok with what you got. I'd go to a Jeep forum and find out a much about the motor as possible and compare. Motor should be the same, but then I don't have a Jeep so I'm not sure.

I'd call up the local dealer and tell them about your situation, the auto tranny for the jeep 3.7 and the ram are both 42rle so that should match up. If you don't need the pcm and harness I'd think you might still need the dealer to flash something in the pcm to get it all straight.

Ok, I paid to talk to a Dodge tech at (Just answer.doge). He said the 05’ liberty has a different pickup on the crankshaft, and that the crankshafts would have to be swapped to make it work. That really stinks, as the donor engine only has 60,000 miles on it.
