Paint stripping and polishing the metal

Paint stripping and polishing the metal
I've already got some chrome step bars and bed bars, my questions are about striping old paint then polishing it up.
1. I've got a Tractor Supply aluminum diamond plate bed box that came already painted in black. I want to strip but NOT stain the aluminum. Is there a certain type of paint stripper to use? I know this will polish up nice with just regular aluminum polish, and it will stay shiny for a while
But for #2
2. I'm building a front bull bar from some metal tubing NOT aluminum it's also painted black. I want to strip the paint off it then what polish to use to get it to shine. Then will a clear coat paint over it after I polish the metal maintain a shine? Or won't it hold up. I may just end up doing a Durabak rubberized with a color paint job on the bull bar.
Thanks H-
