Unit bearing frustration
I have a 2006 Mega Cab. My front U-joints are about to bite the dust After doing tons of research on how to remove and replace, I decided to do the job myself. Guess what, I could not remove the unit bearings. I tried everything, including the power steering (which only resulted in ruining my PS pump, it now has a whine) nothing would budge it. I have now resigned myself to using a puller and therefore destroying the bearing. I have found the unit bearing through Rock Auto. Unfortunatley, they tell me it won't be available from Timken until mid May. Obviously, that won't fly. I called Timken direct, and talked to a tech. He suggested getting the bearing for a 2003-2005 Ram 2500 and told me they are the exact same bearing, the difference being the ABS sensor. He said to just reuse my old one. That is all fine with me, but I thought I would check and see if anyone else has had success with this. My concern is I rip the old bearing apart removing it, install the new ones, as well as the U-joints, install my old ABS sensor in the new hub, and then get a ABS warning. Any ideas?? Anyone??

I have reused the abs senser on my front hubs four times now. (1500 series) Really no issues with the ABS light. I think the light came on after one installation. Then went out once driving. Disconnecting the negative battery cable, using superchip or resetting pcm would probably all work should the abs light come on after install.
Edit. I should add be carefull removing the old senser. So you do not to break it. Use some PB blaster. Go slow.
