Default Brake Problems-The infamous Ram shimmy

Hey guys I just bought me an '03 Quad Cab last week and luckily I had done some research on them first otherwise I would have never bought it since it has the usual dodge brake problem with the whole shimmy/shake when breaking. I know there are several years that have this problem and I was just wondering if there is a fix for this. From what I have read some guys end up replacing rotors every other oil change because of this. Is there not a certain kind of rotor I can get or replace the calipers to fix this problem for good. I love the truck but I really don't want to have to mess with this every few thousand miles. I've got quite a few mods on the truck I'll post some pics as soon as I get it cleaned up. Thanks in advance.

Why did you buy it knowing about the problem, that it HAD the problem, and not knowing if there was a fix for it? =\

replace your rotors, and if you dont drive like a maniac, or tow way more than the truck is rated for, they should be good for at least 30,000 miles.

ditto, IMO, should last longer than 30k. But your driving style will be an important factor.

The 03 had a tsb on calipers as well. So if they are original change them. If you don't know. I would change them anyway. Buy some decent rotors and pads you should be all set. I have had my 03 since Oct 02. Gone thru 3 sets of brakes. Stockers for 3 years. But the rotors were warped before the 3 years. Then Napa Ultra Premuim rotors then EBC slotted / dimpled rotors. Both sets warped after 2nd year. I just put Hawk LTS pad / Powerslot rotor combo on couple days ago. They will probably be like the rest of them and warp after the 2 year. I am certain my high speed driving style/braking with my snowmobile trailer is causing most of my brake problems.
Good Luck.
